Today, August 26, marks the official commemoration of Women’s Equality Day, celebrating the 1920 passage of the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution which prohibits state and federal governments from denying women the right to vote. We know that the best way to guarantee equality in the workplace and pay parity is through a union contract. As we move into election season, please remember the importance of voting for labor-friendly leaders who will support working people. In honor of Women’s Equality Day, take this opportunity to verify that you are registered to vote, develop a plan to cast your ballot, vote early (if possible), and exercise your constitutionally-preserved right to vote in the upcoming election. Committees are in Motion
TWU negotiators are making progress on the first-ever contract between JetBlue and its IFCs – but the union doesn’t have an unlimited supply of patience, Transport Workers Union International President John Samuelsen said.
A three-day negotiating session with management took place in late April. Two more sessions are now scheduled: one in Washington, D.C., May 28–31, and another in San Francisco, June 17–20. Read more
