Today, you received a message from JetBlue Management announcing a rebid for April schedules. JetBlue Management approached the TWU with the reality that JetBlue would be forced to cut their schedule even more than anticipated. With the knowledge that additional schedule cuts would cause massive rescheduling, your Union signed an MOU with Management for a rebid of the April schedule, so that IFC seniority would be honored.
In addition to rebid language, the TWU also negotiated pay and disciplinary protection, so that IFCs will not lose income or accrue attendance points if they are quarantined or infected with COVID-19. As further protection, TWU is working closely with lawmakers to support the passage of the Families First Coronavirus Response Act, which was passed by the United States House of Representatives on Friday, and will be taken up by the Senate this week. If signed, this law will provide additional guarantees to our IFCs to deal with the impacts of COVID-19 on our families.
During this time of tremendous uncertainty that COVID-19 has caused to our industry, and due to the daily (and sometimes hourly) changes that are occurring, your Union is working closely with JetBlue Management to protect not only the health, but also the jobs and futures of our IFCs. We know this is a stressful time both on and off the aircraft. Please continue to follow all recommended CDC guidelines. If there are any changes or updates to these guidelines, we will let you know as soon as we are aware.
