Two important rules have changed since we initially informed you about the major changes to the Known Crewmember® (KCM®) program’s “Rules for Use” back in October. Both rule changes affect the procedures used in the TSA Pre✓® lanes if you are selected for additional screening.
- If you are in uniform, and you are selected for additional TSA screening, you are now allowed front-of-the-line access at TSA Pre✓® lanes. If you are in uniform, you continue to have front-of-the-line access at standard passenger-screening lanes.
- If you are not in uniform, and you are selected for additional TSA screening, you may utilize the standard passenger-screening lanes, and you may now use the TSA Pre✓® lanes. However, if you are not in uniform you do not receive front-of-the-line access at either of those lanes.
There are no other significant changes to the KCM® program, although there is a reminder that you may not utilize the KCM® lanes for personal use when traveling internationally, and that “Travel from the U.S. to a destination which does not require a passport (e.g., U.S. Virgin Islands) is not considered international travel.”
As always, if you encounter a situation in which you believe the published rules are not being followed, please comply with the direction of the Transportation Security Officer. After you have cleared the security checkpoint, you may file a complaint with a Supervisor on duty or through www.knowncrewmember.org. You may also report any discrepancies you experience at the TWU/JetBlue IFC website.
The best way to stay up to date on all rule changes and rule changes alerts for KCM® is at the “KCM® Rules” page at their website.
