Yesterday, your TWU / JetBlue IFC Negotiating Team (NT) completed a three-day negotiating session with JetBlue management in New York. We discussed and exchanged proposals on the following articles:
- Exchange of Trips
While we did not reach any Tentative Agreements this week, we held productive discussions with management, and we look forward to continuing negotiations on these and other items at our next scheduled negotiating session, September 3–6 in Washington, DC.
In addition to contract negotiations, your NT also made significant progress on a Memorandum Of Understanding (MOU) for a Peer Observer Program that would allow TWU-trained IFCs to serve as witnesses in investigatory meetings that could lead to discipline. We are close to a final agreement, and we will provide details on opportunities for volunteering and training for this program once it has been finalized. The TWU has proposed and negotiated similar programs with other carriers prior to reaching a contract. While this is not a substitute for a contractually-guaranteed grievance procedure, it is an important step in the right direction.
An informed and united membership is the key to our success. If you have any comments, questions, or suggestions about negotiations, please reach out to your NT at the website, or send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org, and we will respond to you as soon as possible. Thank you for your solidarity and support as we negotiate our historic first contract.
