As the new coronavirus, COVID-19, spreads, your Union is taking all possible steps and precautions to ensure that our IFCs are well-protected and informed. In addition, we are coordinating with other Unions, regulatory, and governmental agencies and keeping in close communication with JetBlue Management regarding this rapidly changing situation.

Last week, the TWU communicated with JetBlue Management on COVID-19 related issues, including schedule changes, and made recommendations to the Company to lessen the impact to IFCs. In addition, your TWU Health and Safety Committee sent a letter to JetBlue’s President and Chief Operating Officer requesting more frequent updates on the spread of COVID-19, expanded use on gloves on the aircraft, accessible mounted hand sanitizers for passengers and crew on all aircraft, updated personal protective equipment (PPE), temporary suspension of Blue Turning, more frequent and thorough cleaning of our aircraft, protection from disciplinary action and pay protection if IFCs are quarantined, and payment for all medical costs in case of infection. While we have not received a response at this time, we will continue to advocate to ensure that our IFCs are protected at every level.

Another case is said to have reached into the Texas A&M campus as of Thursday, January 23. Another passenger from Mexico City to Los Angeles was taken to the hospital out of caution, showing symptoms of the virus. Read more
