Today, August 26, marks the official commemoration of Women’s Equality Day, celebrating the 1920 passage of the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution which prohibits state and federal governments from denying women the right to vote. We know that the best way to guarantee equality in the workplace and pay parity is through a union contract. As we move into election season, please remember the importance of voting for labor-friendly leaders who will support working people. In honor of Women’s Equality Day, take this opportunity to verify that you are registered to vote, develop a plan to cast your ballot, vote early (if possible), and exercise your constitutionally-preserved right to vote in the upcoming election.
We have just completed our JetBlue/TWU IFC “Pop-Up” Town Hall Call. Thanks to everyone who submitted questions and tuned in to the call to discuss negotiations, the importance of reaching a contract, and other serious issues IFCs are facing. We have posted the call on the TWU/JetBlue IFCs website for review. We will hold additional calls in the near future, so be on the lookout for any upcoming dates, times, and registration information.
During these turbulent times, as we fight to reach the protection of our first contract, it is more important than ever that all IFCs are getting current, accurate information. Please take the opportunity to forward this email to every IFC you know, especially our newest IFCs, and encourage them to sign up for updates. An informed and involved work group will be the key to our success.
Please continue to stay safe at home and at work. Together we will make it through this.
